| "Direction Of The Heart" to pierwszy album Simple Minds od czasu uznanego "Walk Between Worlds" z 2018 roku. Większość utworów powstała na Sycylii, gdzie mieszkają zarówno wokalista Jim Kerr, jak i gitarzysta Charlie Burchill. Z powodu restrykcji covidowych materiał został nagrany w hamburskich Chameleon Studios, gdzie muzycy wyprodukowali materiał z pomocą Andy'ego Wrighta (Massive Attack, Echo & The Bunnymen) oraz Gavina Goldberga (Simply Red, KT Tunstall). Gościnnie na płycie znaleźli się Russell Mael, frontman zespołu Sparks oraz Gary Clark znany z zespołu Danny Wilson.
